If you have been following the tech scene, then you should have already had a glimpse of what the new iPhone will look like. For those of you who havn’t already seen it, Apple today officially showcased their long awaited iPhone 4 at the WWDC in San Francisco.

Apple showed off their new piece of tech with a ton of new and exciting features. Firstly with an upgraded design, where the internals are sandwiched between two hardened plates of aluminosilicate glass with a stainless steel trim which stretches around the outer edges which acts as the phone’s radio antennae. At a mere 9.3mm, the iPhone 4 is 24 percent thinner than its predecessor; the iPhone 3GS.  Referred to by Apple as the “retina display”, the LCD screen boasts a 960×640 high resolution display with 326 pixels per inch and a contrast ratio of 800:1.

Along with the new aesthetics, the battery has also been upgraded with a proposed 7 hours of talk time, 6 hours of 3G browsing or 10 hours on Wi-Fi, 10 hours of video, 40 hours of music and a potential of 300 hours on standby. Formerly known as the iPhone OS 4, the new OS has been renamed to a more suited iOS 4 since it will also power the iPad and iPod touch.

The camera has also been blessed with an updated 5-megapixel sensor with LED flash and 5x digital zoom and support for 720p video recording at 30 fps. In addition to the back camera, a front-facing camera was also added which will allow users to take advantage of Apple’s FaceTime to make video calls.

The iPhone 4 will be available in two colours; black and white, and will be released on June 24th in the US. The phone will be more widely available to the rest of the world by September. In the US the 16 GB version will cost $199 with contract while the 32 GB model will be $299.

With all the new features, Apple continues to impress and hold a firm position in the mobile phone industry enticing new developers to their device.

The template I used is called “theorderoftheweb”, just google it I guess. The new iPhone does look very appealing but wonder how much it will cost without contract in Australia.
