USB 2.0 UGA Multi-Display Adapter Unboxed

Posted by Simon | News | Tuesday 27 July 2010 6:13 pm

I would like to thank my friend for letting me borrow this adapter for testing. I currently own the EVGA UV+ which has shown results that are far from desired. Before I fully test this new adapter, I have done a unboxing to show you what you can expect to see in the box if you also choose to purchase this model. A full test of its capabilities and a comparison to the UV Plus+ will follow shortly after.

The cover states that this particular model supports up to 1920×1080 pixels. Not bad for a USB to VGA adapter.

Sliding the cover open reveals the inner box.

Everything seems to be packed nicely.

The package’s contents pictured from left to right are:

- USB cable
- USB Display Adapter
- DVI to HDMI Adapter
- DVI to VGA Adapter
- Quick start guide
- Driver CD

The DVI end of the adapter up close.

The USB end of the adapter up close.

That’s all there was in the box, not too much different from the EVGA UV+ except for the inclusion of the DVI to HDMI adapter. I will be testing out this adapter soon with my main desktop computer and the much more portable Viliv N5. I will be following up with a side by side comparison between this device and the prior mentioned EVGA UV+.

Any joy as yet with the USB to VGA adapter on the N5. I don’t need HD quality, but I do need to be able to run standard def wma video and slide shows. thanks, Ken

Sorry for the delay, too many work commitments lately. I have tested both adapters which share very similar results. Both are decent but far from perfect. I can get video playback at reasonable speeds but its hit and miss. One day it will work and the next day its very laggy.

As for slideshows it works perfectly, I have run PowerPoint presentations for work flawlessly using the USB to VGA adapter connected to a projector.

If I can find some time I will post a video showing you what I have tested so far; maybe tonight.

Once again sorry for the delays.

Most of the time I would be playing the WMA or Mpeg4 video from a USB stick or an external DVD drive so I’d also be sharing the one and only USB port!
Maybe I need to go for a Umid SE or Vaio X series (different approach but very portable in it’s own way)
